I started my professional career more than 30 years ago. Following my English language studies, I worked for several years as a translator in the United States, Australia and Great Britain, which enabled me to optimise
my proficiency in English and to learn about intercultural communication.
My philosophy has always been:

“Act locally and think globally!”

Since 1978 I have held the title of State-Certified Translator from the IHK Düsseldorf (Düsseldorf Chamber of Commerce) and in 1989 I was sworn
in at the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf as an Authorised Translator,
among others I am handling translations of varied documents for the Local
Court of Neuss.

I have been a member of the BDÜ (Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators) since 1990. In April 2005 I was elected an Associate of the Institute of Linguists (based in London) and in July 2006 I became a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL). Following my election as Hon. Treasurer in March 2005 I became a member of the Committee of the German Society of the Institute.

As a staff translator for SMS Demag (formerly Mannesmann Demag) I was able to acquire the required technical know-how and specialised translation terminology used in that firm (metallurgical and rolling mill technology,
and mechanical engineering). After 15 years of working in the translation department there, I started my career as a freelance translator on
1st January 2006.

Since 2009, translational cooperation in creating a highly technical professional journal.
